I actually already have a veggie garden with raised beds, some of which hubby built when he was feeling better, and some which I put together last year. It's mostly the veggie gardens I am paring down, as I don't think I could bare to dig up my flowers.

Trying to move all the vegetables to raised beds, as I do NOT want hubby trying to rototill anymore, even though he things he can. I'm afraid he will have a grizzly accident with all the falls he has been having. I am going for light soil that I can work up by hand, and just plant and mulch with straw, grass clippings, whatever. So far, so good! The old garden (which accounted for about half the vegetables I used to plant) is hopefully being returned to lawn this year.

By the way, hope your garden does well. Have fun!

LillyLillyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00850646712565307929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732590261022072879.post-63803643963124300652011-04-30T03:41:42.098-04:002011-04-30T03:41:42.098-04:00I love flowers that come up year after year. They bring me a strange happiness.

Last year, much to the joy of our neighbors, I re-did the flower beds in the front of the house we moved into as well as killed all the weeds in the lawn.

This spring we put a 10' by 10' garden in the back. DH did the hard labor and I got to plan and plant it. It's multi-leveled with separated areas. I need to take some photos and post them. It's my Victory Garden. My small attempt to help the planet and my family at the same time.

If your gardens have become too large, have you thought about turning a few spots over and planting some veggies in with your flowers. I have been reading about this approach to the "new" home garden. Not only do you get the beauty, you get to eat some of your efforts. ;)

SAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732590261022072879.post-46053208220071408052011-04-25T05:39:54.623-04:002011-04-25T05:39:54.623-04:00Thank you for all the well wishes. And thank you ...Thank you for all the well wishes. And thank you S., for the beautiful yard comment. Actually I am trying to downsize on the gardens now, as I got a little too garden-happy, and now have more than I can maintain! Always enjoy the flowers, though.
LillyLillyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00850646712565307929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732590261022072879.post-52481086212345693332011-04-25T02:13:43.972-04:002011-04-25T02:13:43.972-04:00Thank you Lilly.
